Provision of an integrated service desk for the networks business of Bord Gáis Éireann
This notice is being driven by a mandated European directive (Directive 2009/73/EC) to separate the network and energy businesses of Bord Gáis. This is known as the third gas directive.
As part of the implementation of the Third Gas Directive, Bord Gáis is currently being separated into two autonomous businesses – Bord Gáis Networks and Bord Gáis Energy. This separation will be completed by March 2012. As a result of this separation, some of the shared services currently available to both businesses will need to be split and this has provided the opportunity for services to be rebuilt and re-procured. This notices relates only to the Networks business of Bord Gais Eireann.
Due to this separation and the impact on Bord Gáis Networks, an opportunity has arisen for Bord Gáis Networks to review the provision of its service desk together with additional IT support services with a view to aligning more closely with strategic business objectives and better support the needs of its customers.
The support services to be considered for tender may include but are not limited to the following:
An integrated service desk.

— Request fulfilment.
1st line support
— 1st line diagnosis of all services,
— 1St line resolution.
Bundled additional support services.
— Client computing & desk side support,
— Desktop & client build and delivery,
— Data cleansing of client technology,
— Support for mobile business devices.

Devices, Motorola (MC500).
— Office based support services.

— Support of multi-functional devices.
(Printers, scanners, faxes).
— Systems monitoring and exception alerting.
(Dashboard & logs).
— Provision of resources to an agreed rate card,
— Support of business mobile phones.
(iPhone, Blackberry, etc).
There is the potential for change during the tender process to the extent that Bord Gáis Networks takes into account supplier core competencies and services packages. The final list of services to deliver may have additional and omitted elements.
