Limerick) Census 1926 Exhibition To accompany the release of Census 1926, the National Archives will present exhibitions in Dublin, London and Boston, that focus on different facets of life in Ireland in 1926, offering new perspectives on the major social, cultural and political events of the day. Through a range of thematic lens, including patterns of employment, education and language, dwellings and domestic life, religious practice โ as well as a focus on who was living in Ireland at the time; famous people and patterns of migration โ the exhibition will draw upon the census data, statistical reports and news of the day to create a vivid portrait of Ireland in 1926 as both an ancient nation and fledgling state. Census 1926 National Tour The National Archives will work in partnership with up to 10 local authority venues between July and December 2026. The exhibition will also be presented at the National Ploughing Championships in September 2026. Drumcollogher Exhibition A separate exhibition will be presented in Drumcollogher, Co. Limerick in September 2026 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Drumcollogher fire. Design Content developed for the Census 1926 exhibitions in Dublin, London and Boston will be available for the National Tour. Separate content will be developed and available for the Drumcollogher exhibition. The National Archives envisages the tour taking the form of a series of concurrent exhibitions โ up to 3 at any one time โ presented between July and December 2026 across Ireland. Modified versions of the original exhibition will be configured for a range of Local Authority venues using a number of exhibition systems.
