The National Archives requires external support to coordinate and manage the scheduling and uploading of digital content across its social media platforms (X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) While content creation will be led internally, this role will ensure consistent and timely publication, maintain a digital content calendar, and support the Public Services team in delivering an online presence which will to engage the public, share archival resources, and highlight institutional initiatives. The need for external support is amplified by the significant demands arising from the launch of the 1926 Census in April 2026, which will be accompanied by a major public engagement programme. This programme will generate a high volume of digital content and require coordinated scheduling across multiple platforms and audiences. Following the April release of the 1926 Census there is a multi-year programme of commemorations and activities throughout the remainder of 2026, 2027 and 2028. The Archives currently offer a wide range of public services, including access to historical records both online and in person, genealogical research support, educational resources for schools, public exhibitions and curated displays, as well as outreach programmes. To support these services, consistent digital communication is essential in order to promote availability and access, share updates and news and engage with diverse audiences. The external service provider will: โข Maintain a structured content calendar to support forward planning and strategic messaging. โข Upload and publish content across platforms, ensuring consistency in tone and branding. โข Monitor engagement and flag opportunities for amplification or response. โข Provide basic performance reporting to inform future communications planning.
