Health Service Executive (HSE)

Co-operation and Working Together (CAWT), the cross border health and social care partnership comprising the HSE in the Republic of Ireland, the Southern and Western Health & Social Care Trusts and the Health and Social Care Board in Northern Ireland, identified that specialist services available for sexually transmitted diseases (STIs) to people in the border counties for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of STIs were inadequate or non-existent. Functioning GUM services have now been set up in Letterkenny, Drogheda, Dundalk, and Monaghan, with services in Sligo being enhanced.
A comprehensive ICT system is now required to support the operation of the GUM services in these areas and nationally, as the need arises.
