Synchrophasor wide-area monitoring system

EirGrid plc

EirGrid wishes to procure an archiving and visualisation software system that will serve as the central component of a real time synchrophasor wide-area monitoring system. This system will take synchronised phasor data streams from the existing network of disturbance recorders (Phasor Measurement Units). The system will combine the data from the various recorders, analyse it, store it, produce a suite of reports, log and report event & alarms and present the data in a suite of displays. The system will be capable of handling data from recorders to be installed at a later date in addition to the current recorders.
The primary functions of this Synchrophasor Wide-Area Monitoring System software will be to:
— Provide real time monitoring of sub synchronous oscillations on the power system,
— Identify generators with oscillating power output and sites experiencing frequency oscillations,
— Gather statistics on Low frequency oscillation modes, amplitudes and decay times,
— Provide real-time monitoring of Dynamic behaviour of the power system,
— Provide islanding detection and visualisation; aid with re-synchronisation.
