BIM Seaweed development programme 2018-2020 (Bord Iascaigh Mhara - Irish Sea Fisheries Board (BIM))
BIM would like to invite tenders to provide project management and labour associated with this seaweed project for the period 2018-2020 to carry out field analysis, hatchery manipulation and pre-commercial growth of Porphyra umbilicalis on suitable substrates at sea and in the hatchery. Growth trials of wild harvested Palmaria palmata in tanks will be carried out. Processing of WFD lake phytoplankton samples for the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)
The initial scope of work will involve the processing of Lugols iodine preserved lake phytoplankton samples to include identification, photographs of taxa encountered, counts and determination of biovolumes using the Utermohl technique (inverted microscope) according to the CEN guidance.
