IIn April 2022, SWMDC made an application to the Department of Rural and Community Development under the Rural Regeneration Development Fund for the development of the Valkenburg Hotel on Main Street, Ballinrobe into a community arts and amenity centre. This application was made in collaboration with Ballinrobe Civic Arts and Amenity Company CLG , which owns the building.
