Limerick City Council, as contracting authority, is seeking consultants to produce a report for the implementation of a neighbourhood regeneration programme for St Mary's Park, which will be presented initially for approval to Limerick City Council and then issued to the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government for consideration. St Mary's Park, Kings Island has been identified by Limerick City Council as a neighbourhood, which needs regeneration in terms of both physical infrastructure and community renewal. The estate was built in early 1930's and contains approximately 450 houses. Socio-economic and cultural issues of concern with respect to St Mary's Park are referred to in the Limerick City Northside RAPID Plan (revitalising areas through planning, investment and development), and more recently in a report to the City Council entitled 'Public Housing in Limerick City: A Profile of Tenants and Estates' by Des McCafferty and Angela Canny. Content of report. The report will assess the issues facing St Mary's Park and will recommend proposals and actions in the following areas: - local cultural and community development; - social regeneration; - economic regeneration; - physical and infrastructural regeneration; - implementation of regeneration scheme; - cost plan for implementation of scheme.
