Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: Nuig/Build/033/08: Research buildings bundle: PM/QS Service and Design Team Consortium. NUI Galway intends to deliver 3 significant construction projects within 24 months in a single procurement ‘bundle’. These are; an extension to the Clinical Sciences Institute in the UCHG campus for a Translational Research Facility, an extension to the James Hardiman Library (a protected structure) for a Research Library and a stand-alone hi-technology Bio-Sciences Multipurpose Research Innovation Centre. With the aid of a retained Project & Cost Manager, the University wishes to use a design-and-build process to procure these 3 projects in parallel, novating a University-selected single point design consortium to the preferred main contract bidder following a competitive process. NUI Galway invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified firms to provide construction consultancy services in two lots: Lot 1: Appointment of a Project Management Service including an Executive Cost Consultant (“PMQS”), for the full management of all 3 of the above projects. Appointment of a Single Point Design Team Consortium (“SP Team”) to prepare a planning application and D&B performance specification for all 3 of the projects, to be novated to the D&B contractor. An Invitation to Tender will be issued shortly to request lump-sum fee bids, under the new form of Construction Consultant Contracts (Dept of Finance).
