The proposed works will be delivered in accordance with sustainable procurement and environmental management principles. The focus will be on minimizing carbon emissions, reducing waste and protecting the rivers throughout the rehabilitation of the three bridge structures. Rehab works are designed to keep material quantities to a minimum and using recycled construction materials such stone. Any additional stone that is required will be sourced locally. This reduces transport impacts and minimizes fuel use and emissions. The works will include responsible water management and pollution prevention controls to protect surrounding land and watercourses. Environmental performance will be monitored during the works and communication with Inland Fisheries Ireland will be carried out on a constant basis.
