Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: Supply of a high performance computing cluster. The School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering wishes to purchase a HPC cluster composed of a number of blade servers (with indicative numbers specified hereinafter). It is to be 4X Infiniband-enabled, with each node consisting of 2 to 4 multicore x86_64 CPU's. Each node should be equipped with 16 GB RAM, with the option to extend this to 32 GB in the future for selected blades. Additional supporting items related to mass storage, service, security, hosting and training, are detailed in section E. Quotations are sought also for specialised processors for scientific computation, based on FPGA and SIMD GPU architectures. There are five (5) separate lots in this document. Bidders may bid for 1 or more. The full specification is available in Section E of the 'Invitation to Tender' document, which is attached to the contract notice at www.etenders.gov.ie.
