South Dublin County Council invited expressions of interest for the civil engineering works for the following project “Dodder Greenway – Phase 2 – Bridges”.
The Dodder Greenway - Phase 2 – Bridges scheme is part of the overall development and upgrade of the Dodder Greenway, a greenway that will run from Bohernabreena in the Dublin Mountains to the Grand Canal Basin in Dublin City Centre. In additional the project can involve some of the works below:
• Widening of existing paths in the vicinity of the bridges to create a shared surface minimising impact on the Dodder River
• Construction of new shared paths for pedestrians and cyclists
• Upgrade and installation of public lighting where required
• Road markings and signage

Murphy International Ltd, Ground Floor, Great Connell, Newbridge, Co. Kildare, W12 HD61 were appointed as the construction Contractor for this phase of the works on behalf of South Dublin County Council for the sum of €3,451,208 ex VAT.
Post commencement on-site the Office of Government Procurement (OGP) published notes outlining the mechanism for payment of Ex Gratia payments to contractors to account for the Irish Governments construction closure orders in relation to public health measures aimed at limiting the spread of the Covid -19 pandemic. As a result the following Ex Gratia payments were made to the main contractor Murphy International Ltd:
• Ex Gratia Payment Construction Lockdown 1 (2020) – this was as a result of imposed work stoppage due to public health measures in 2020 and amounts to €64,517 (ex VAT)
