Cork Institute of Technology

The Institute has a requirement for embedded project management support with specialist knowledge of sports grounds maintenance and infrastructure management.
In addition, the resource will also be required to provide project management services on other estates management activities. The intention is to make the appointment for a period of 2 years with an option to extend for a further two (2) 12 month periods by agreement.
The embedded project manager will report to the Sports Office and Buildings Office, depending on activities.

Sports related requirements:
โ€” Enhancing the Institute's image and exploitation of the commercial potential of the Institute's sports assets.
โ€” Preparation of budgets and cost control for sports surface maintenance for presentation to the Institute.
โ€” Daily management of the availability of sports facilities including liaison with coaches and team managers regarding playability of surfaces, re-charging and invoicing of sports facilities hire fees.
โ€” Event co-ordination with external university, local, national and international sporting bodies.
โ€” Preparation of Programmes for on-going development and improvement of sports facilities including, where appropriate, the identification of increased efficiency opportunities etc.
โ€” Liaison with CIT departments i.e. the Sports Office, Estates Office, Registrar's Office and Finance Office.
โ€” Skills transfer via the direction and co-ordination of the Institute's sports grounds maintenance staff through the development of training programmes that will enhance the Institute's in-house expertise.
โ€” Preparation, where necessary, of tenders in partnership with the Institute.
โ€” Supervision of sports facilities projects provided by, CIT appointed, external specialist contractors.
โ€” Supervision of staff for grounds duties to ensure upkeep and maintenance of playing surfaces.
โ€” Preparation of plans, drafting and lodging of planning applications where proposed projects require planning permission.
