water treatment plant to achieve a treated water output of 54 000 mยณ/day. The
existing water treatment plant is capable of a treated water output of
38 000 m
The works required under the contract are to be delivered on a Contractor Design-
Build-Operate basis. The DBO contract is approx. 18 months Design and Build
including a process proving period and with a 1 year Operation and Maintenance
period.
The planned works are necessary to ensure compliance with EU Directives, Irish
National Standards and Regulations relating to treated water for human
consumption.

A group will not be required to convert into a specific legal form in order to submit a request to participate, but may if Irish Water considers it necessary to ensure that the contract is carried out to its satisfaction, be required to do so prior to award of the contract. Irish Water also reserves the right to contract with each member of the group on the basis of joint and several liability, or with one member of the group as a main contractor with a number of sub-contractors or on any other basis as Irish Water considers appropriate.
