The contract is for the supply of honeycomb catalyst layers for three 305MWe coal fired boilers at Moneypoint Generating Station. The layers will be installed in a high dust SCR plant. There are two SCR reactors per unit which are situated between the economiser and the airheaters.There are two layers of honeycomb catalyst currently installed in each reactor.
This work is likely to include supply of honeycomb catalysts in the order of 78m3 volume per layer. Two new layers will be required per unit. Also included in the supply is the necessary sealing materials and screens over the catalyst layers. It is proposed to install two new layers in Unit 1 in 2012 (Lot 1), two new layers in Unit 3 in 2013 (Lot 2) and two new layers in Unit 2 in 2014 (Lot 3).
ESB Moneypoint Generating Station is located in the Shannon estuary in the south west of Ireland, near Kilrush in Co Clare. The site is located on the north bank of the River Shannon, 5 km east of Kilrush. Access is available to the site by road or by sea. The port of Dublin is 265 km distant, the port of Cork is 210 km distant and the port of Limerick is 85 km distant.
Prospective Tenderers will be able to provide on site technical assistance during the installation works. Prospective tenderers will have the capacity to store the catalyst layers in the event of unit outage dates changing.
