Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: Football Figurative Sculpture Commission. Kerry County Council invites submissions for the following Public Art Commission: The Council will commission a figurative sculpture that celebrates the county's Football culture and heritage. Football has a strong tradition in the county. It reflects the sporting nature of the people. Proposals are invited from professional visual artists to submit A proposed ideas/ sketches B - maquettes Specifications: Theme: A realistic figurative sculpture should depict the energy and skill involved in Gaelic football. The commissioners do not wish to include any individual portraits; the work should depict the game, the energy, the struggle, the skill across the board. A high fielding pose should be considered. Kerry's strong history and success in football is to be depicted. A three-four figure; life-size or larger than life-size, art work will be commissioned. The budget for the commission inclusive of artworks, artist¿s fees, documentation costs, travel, materials, design, fabrication, insurance and all other costs associated with the creation, delivery and permanent installation of the artwork is 230 000 EUR. Artists tendering for the commission must submit a full detailed budget proposal. Consideration will be given to the durability and maintenance of the proposed art work. The artwork must be in place by March 2007. A site visit will take place on Thursday 11th May. Artists should be at the main door of County Buildings in Tralee at 10.30 a.m. The arts officer and an engineer will be present to assist with any queries. This commission is intended as a two stage commission: Stage one - open national competition, to submit drawings/ and maquettes, a detailed budget, examples of previous work, evidence of previous commissions and ability to deliver on time and within budget. The commissioners reserve the right to offer a direct commission at this stage. Stage two - one or a number of submissions may be selected by the commissioners, the artist/s will be paid a fee to create a 'to scale' maquette. The final selection will be made following this short listing. The commissioners reserve the right to withhold commissioning.
