The South Westmeath Water Supply Scheme involves the provision of a new raw water intake arrangement from Killinure Lough, an inlet of Lough Ree on the River Shannon, provision of pumping station and treatment plant at Portaneena with a capacity of up to 41 million litre per day, pumping main to a reservoir, the provision of trunk mains, service reservoirs and distribution mains, together with connections to existing mains, associated metering, valving and telemetry arrangements. Westmeath County Council requires the services of a competent consulting engineering firm, with experience of major civil engineering works related to the abstraction of raw water, treatment and distribution to storage facilities and supply network. The consulting engineering firm is required for the preparation of all investigations, reports, contract documents and other engineering services outlined under Item II.2.1.
