Management of wastewater sludge. Mayo County Council is responsible for the management of waste water sludge produced in twelve wastewater treatment plants in County Mayo namely; Achill, Ballina, Ballina Beverages (Coke), Ballinrobe, Ballyhaunis, Bangor Erris, Castlebar, Claremorris, Crossmolina, Knock, Swinford and Westport. 9 000 tonnes of sludge are generated in these plants annually. Mayo County Council proposes to appoint a competent contractor to manage the safe collection, transportation, and appropriate treatment of sludge cake from the plants listed above.
