The Oireachtas Library and Research Service (L&RS) wishes to implement a new Library Management System (LMS). The L&RS envisages that the LMS will be underpinned with a digital repository allowing for it to manage, disclose and preserve a wide range of content created in digital format. The primary users of the LMS will be L&RS staff, Members of the Oireachtas (i.e. TDs and Senators) and their staff, and Office staff. Furthermore the LMS will make available to the general public particular subsets of the L&RS collections depending upon user access rights. The LMS will streamline the acquisition process by supporting workflows for hardcopy and digital acquisition, collection management and curation. The LMS will integrate with products and services such as federated search engines, link resolvers and collection A-Z type services to enhance the user experience and enable efficient and speedy resource discovery and incorporate Web 2.0 type technologies.
