Iarnrod Eireann – Irish Rail

Title attributed to the contract by the contracting entity: Additives for Diesel Oil (EN590) to improve fuel efficiency. Iarnrod Eireann is a large consumer of gas-oil and is seeking to reduce the consumption rate of our rail vehicles, both Diesel Multiple units and Locomotives. Iarnrod Eireann is now requesting potential suppliers of additives that have results proven under controlled test conditions, preferably by an independent certified laboratory, to offer their product for consideration. All additives to be considered must not adversely effect engine wear or reduce the performance of the engine. It is envisaged that a desk review will be carried out with a view to establishing a list of participants who will be issued with a questionnaire and invited to attend in Iarnrod Eireann to present their offering. Following this presentation and any clarifications, Iarnrod Eireann will prepare a short list of products to be tested; this short list is expected to be four products, but it could be more or less than four, depending on what is available in the market, for testing. Iarnrod Eireann intends to engage with one or more potential suppliers, depending on the outcome of the initial tests, to negotiate a framework agreement and/or initial contract for supply.
