National Rehabilitation Hospital

Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: Design and construction of the proposed new National Rehabilitation Hospital. The works comprise the design and construction of a new National Rehabilitation Hospital facility and associated facilities totalling c. Gross Floor Area (GFA). A principal hospital building measuring GFA c. 43 500 sq.m., accommodating 235 no. bedrooms and generally ranging in height from 2 to 6 storeys stepping back from Rochestown Avenue into the site, is proposed. The works include demolition of c. of the existing Hospital buildings generally single to three-storey in height, south of the existing main vehicular entrance, east of the existing Prosthetic Department and Rehabilitative Training Unit (RTU) building. The works also include the provision of temporary accommodation for various hospital departments and associated facilities to allow for continued and full operation of the rehabilitation hospital. C. 542 no. car parking spaces are included in the works, including approximately 60 spaces under the building at basement level. The works include site development comprising all associated engineering services and all site development and landscaping works. The contract also includes full compliance with current Health & Safety legislation from the date of appointment until completion of contract, quality control, and other required services.
