Monard water supply scheme. Monard is a planned new settlement situated to the North-West of Cork City in Ireland. It is expected to cover 966 acres (3.91 km²) and contain 5,000 new dwellings for 13 000 people as well as schools, a medical centre and other facilities. It is expected to be smaller in size but similar in concept to Adamstown in Dublin. The settlement is expected to be based on three villages and a town centre, built around the new railway station, located at Rathpeacon siding on the Dublin-Cork mainline. The internal network of matermains will be supplies from the Inniscarra Water Treatment Plant. Cork County Council now intends to appoint a Consulting Engineer to prepare a Preliminary Report which will include recommendations for the optimum method of supplying water to the proposed Monard Settlement. Those applicants that prequalify will be invited to submit a tender for the preliminary, design, tender, construction and Handover stages of the project. In general the successful tenderer (Consultant) will be required to undertake the contract as outlined in the scope of services but will, initially, be appointed for the Preliminary stage only. There is no guarantee that the successful tenderer will be appointed for the following stages. Applicants should be aware that the Service Contract Period for the Preliminary stage is 10 months. The successful tenderer must be in a position to commit adequate resourses to meet this deadline.
