The project consists of the construction of a new An Garda Síochána District Headquarters on an existing site at Kickham Barracks, Clonmel, Co Tipperary. The proposed project is c.3,630 sqm in area, with a site area of c.0.46 hectares. The building is predominantly 2 storey in height, rising to 3 and 4 storey in the South East corner. Development of the project requires the demolition of 5 No. existing hut structures as well as the removal of a number of existing trees on the site. The site is a Protected Structure and is recorded as such under the Clonmel and Environs Development Plan. The site proposal involves the provision of 43 car parking spaces, landscaping works and bicycle and motorcycle parking provisions. The Kickham Barracks site is located in an urban setting in the centre of Clonmel town, at the junction of Davis Road and Dillon Street. Tipperary County Council has developed a masterplan for the overall development of the site in which the new An Garda Síochána District Headquarters will be situated and the proposed new building will be integrated into the public realm and urban landscaping works proposed as part of that masterplan. The project commenced construction on site on 1st December 2025 with a projected construction programme of 27 months duration. The defects liability period will be 12 months from the date of Substantial Completion.
