Rotunda Hospital plans to develop a new Critical Care Wing on the existing Rotunda Hospital campus. This project will entail the construction of a new 4 storey over basement, 10,000m2 new build acute critical care wing and the refurbishment of approximately 2,000m2 of existing acute hospital facilities within the existing main hospital. The proposed location for the new Critical Care Wing is on the site of the existing single storey outpatient and diagnostics radiology department and the main entrance ramp and pedestrian stairs to the internal campus concourse. In addition, the nature of the proposed site for the location of the new Critical Care Wing, means that there are a significant number of existing live services and utilities including plant and equipment either within or adjacent to the proposed site that will need to be relocated. It is proposed that the new Critical Care Wing would be delivered under four separate contract phases including 1. New Outpatient Department - completed in an off-campus location in early 2025 2. Temporary Radiology Department Building currently under construction on campus 3. Critical Care Wing Enabling Works - subject of this SAQ 4. New Critical Care Wing and Associated Refurbishment Works planning granted August 2025 This SAQ is for the Critical Care Wing Enabling Works the purpose of which is maximise the extent of demolition, ground works, piling, civils works, and essential services diversions undertaken in advance of the main Critical Care Wing project. The outline scope and sequence of works required to be completed as part of the Critical Care Wing Enabling works is as follows 1. Services plant, services distribution and below ground utilities diversions from under the existing central concourse vehicular access ramp and to the north side of the existing campus including initial temporary followed by permanent diversions of services and associated civils works. 2. Relocation of existing medical gases and HVAC plant and equipment to newly constructed plant compound to north end of campus. 3. Removal and safe disposal of asbestos content lagging materials from pipework within existing services tunnel once pipework has been made redundant. 4. Install new services and ICT plant and equipment within existing live hospital building elsewhere on campus such as the 'Nurses Building' and 'Mortuary' to the north side of the campus. 5. Secant pile wall along eastern end of the proposed new Critical Care Wing building. 6. Construction of new permanent central concourse vehicular access ramp and pedestrian access stairs. 7. Demolition of existing single storey outpatient department building. 8. Demolition of existing concourse vehicular access ramp and pedestrian stairs. 9. Secant pile wall to northern, western and southern end of the proposed new Critical Care Wing building. 10. Bulk excavation of site of proposed new Critical Care Wing building
