Key responsibilities include: โข Acting as the competent person under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 โข Maintaining and updating the university's safety system in collaboration with other SETU campuses. โข Supporting academic, functional managers, and departments. โข Assisting the campus safety coordinator in governance preparations โข Undertaking risk assessments (including pregnancy and ergonomic assessments) โข Delivering health and safety training (fire marshal, risk assessment, manual handling, and more) โข Managing safety management software โข Investigating accidents and incidents โข Evaluating legal compliance and crisis management planning โข Providing bespoke training for chemical, biological, and gas safety โข Managing Legionella risks and conducting fire evacuation drills The advisor will also participate in health and safety committees, provide ongoing advice to heads of department, and support safety representatives and inspections.
