The provision of a new electrified fleet will improve capacity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The DART+ Southwest route works are complex and require meticulous planning and coordination due to its distinctive characteristics. The signalling works must closely align to the trackwork stages to maintain an operational railway throughout construction. A significant amount of civil engineering works will be undertaken to facilitate railway widening and will require coordination with trackworks. The integration of track and signalling works, along with civil engineering efforts, is crucial to ensure the railway remains operational throughout the construction phases. The Rail Systems Contractor shall be responsible for the delivery of: • Extensive track remodelling to implement a four-track railway between Park West and Cherry Orchard Station and Heuston Station, planned and delivered to minimise disruption to the existing IÉ operational service. • Significant excavation and construction of retaining walls to widen the railway formation to enable the four-track layout. • Reconstruction of both underbridges and overbridges. • Alterations to parapets on existing overbridges and retaining walls. • Further track layout alterations, including new turnouts and crossovers and a new turnback siding. • Minor alterations at existing stations on the route
