Otter Survey

NPWS is now calling for tenders to manage a new survey of the otter in the Republic of Ireland that will meet NPWS obligations for the species under Article 11 of the EU Habitats Directive. The survey should establish the current distribution and range of the otter in Ireland; provide an updated estimate of population size and trend to inform the next Article 17 report (due in 2025); and allow for national and regional comparisons with the results of previous otter surveys in Ireland.
