Scope of the procurement
Short description:
Irish water is undertaking the amalgamation of a number of water supply schemes
formerly known as Schull WSS, Leap/Baltimore WSS Phase 2, Drimoleague WSS
and Skibbereen WSS Stage 4. The facilitation of this amalgamation requires the
construction of Water Treatment Plant upgrades, increased storage in key areas
of the network, network capacity upgrades and mains rehabilitation.
The contract consists of the design and build of several elements to facilitate the regionalisation of the water supply schemes, and may include the following works;
1) Upgrading of existing (live) water treatment plants at Ballyhilty (6.5 mยณ/day) and Lake Cross (1.5 mยณ/day) providing coagulation-flocculation-clarification (CFC) and rapid gravity filtration (RGF) treatment
2) Construction of new sludge treatment facilities capable of treating sludge from approx. 8Ml/d of treated water
3) Construction of new reservoirs (total volume ranging from 50 mยณ to 600 mยณ)
4) Construction of approx. 35 km of new water mains (100 โ€” 200 mm ฯ†)
5) Construction of Chlorine boosting stations
6) Construction of Network Booster Pumping Stations
The Contract includes an 18 month design build period for the contractor to design, construct and commission the works outlined in brief above.
The Contract will include a 12 month operation period, where the contractor will be responsible for the operation of for the Ballyhilty and Lake Cross Water Treatment Plant's, after the substantial completion of the design build period.
