16/138 — Tuam Regional Water Supply Scheme Extensions Project — Phase 1 Works Contract

Includes:
—Contractor design and construction of approx 35 km of new watermains at various locations throughout Co. Galway including Loughrea, Dunmore, Glenamaddy, Kilkerrin and Moylough;
—The watermains will range from 140 mm OD (125 mm DN) to 400 mm OD (350 mm DN);
—Contractor design and construction of an approx 1 000 m³ Storage Reservoir;
—Approx 5 no. pressure boosting stations;
—Decommissioning of 5 no. existing WTPs;
—Installation of chlorine monitoring and boosting stations;
—Adjustments to existing water distribution networks to facilitate the operation of the enlarged Tuam RWSS;
—The transfer of existing connections to the new mains as necessary;
—Works will take place across and in close proximity to protected structures at several locations and to Special Areas of Conservation;
—Contaminated land may be encountered during the works;
—Heavy traffic conditions are expected at several of the proposed works locations;
—The works will involve crossings of existing motorways, railways and rivers.
