SPU-C001-14 - Provision of support in Irish mammal ecology
The Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht (DAHG) is responsible for the conservation of natural habitats and species and the protection of biological diversity in Ireland. It is also responsible for providing advice to Licensing Authorities in that regard.
All species of marine mammals occurring in Ireland are protected under Irish and European legislation and through international agreements. These include the Wildlife Acts, the EC Habitats Directive, the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, the OSPAR Convention, the Bonn Convention, the Berne Convention, and the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling. Accordingly, there is a significant requirement for expertise in relation to these legal obligations, as well as in the planning and execution of marine mammal surveys and the interpretation of survey results into management advice.
DAHG now invites individuals to tender for the provision of support in Irish marine mammal ecology.
