CRRP-2014-08 โ Green Business Initiative โ Operation and support of the greenbusiness.ie and Green Healthcare Programmes (Phase 3)
During the seven year period that the Green Business Initiative has been operation, a number of programmes of various sizes have been developed to provide direct help to organisations, and to various activity sectors, in both the public and private sector. The projects seek to add value by engaging with sectoral partners, and where possible โcross-cuttingโ so a number of projects might work together synergistically to achieve a mutually beneficial aim. The programmes are marketed under the title โBeGreenโ which provides a hub for the central display and dissemination of materials and knowledge developed by them.
The BeGreen look and feel is closely aligned with the โgreenbusinessโ brand.
The main programmes currently underway as part of the Green Business Initiative are:
Greenbusiness.ie Programmeโ this project aims to provide direct help to businesses and other organisations, to help them to become more resource efficient, using less waster, energy, and raw materials to conduct their business activities. Registering with greenbusiness.ie gives users access to telephone, and e-mail assistance, and may be able to call on up to 5 days of specialist support from trained resource efficiency advisors. The service is entirely free and confidential. To date, approximately 45-60 site visits per year have been carried out with greenbusiness.ie staff identifying, on average, EUR 40 000 per site. In 2013, and 2014, the project dedicated a significant amount of its capacity to servicing the Bord Bia โOrigin Greenโ programme, which has been extremely successful for both parties.
Green Healthcare Programme - This scheme developed form the tools and methodologies developed by the Green Hospitality Programme. Following an initial pilot at a large hospital in Cork, 20 hospitals representing 40 % or Irish hospital acute beds have been covered by the scheme, which concentrates on resource use and waste generation within hospitals.
