BFCP/13 - Provision of the Administration of the Burren Farming for Conservation Programme

The principal objective of the contract is to administer the Burren Farming for Conservation Programme during 2014.
It is envisaged that potentially up to 170 farms will be included within the Programme. Specifically, the objectives are:
โ To ensure the implementation of up to 170 focussed farm plans aimed at maintaining and/or enhancing the quality of the environment in the Burren, in particular those habitats listed in Annex I of the EU Habitats Directive that occur within the Burren
โ To work towards an improvement in the conservation quality of the Annex I habitats (herein after referred to as โthe habitats'), as assessed under Article 17 of the Habitats Directive.
โ To ensure sustainable agricultural management of high nature value farmland within the Burren
โ To contribute to improvements in water quality within the Burren
โ To maintain the high quality of the Burren landscape and cultural heritage
The Burren Farming for Conservation Programme has three measures, namely:
Measure 1: Payment for production of species-rich grassland (good management)
Measure 2: Contribution toward the cost of farm enhancement works
Measure 3: Payment for protection of designated habitats.
