Road passenger transport services - North West
Bus Eireann is tendering for the provision of road passenger transport services in the North West Region. The North West Region covers the greater Sligo Area, Mayo, Ballina, Donegal and Longford areas. It will be the intention of the Contracting Authority to set up a number of panels of competent service providers against each of the Routes under this tender process for a period of three (3) years with an option to extend the duration for a further 12 or 24 months at the discretion of the Contracting Authority.
There are 3 requirements under this process as follows:
Requirement No. 1 – defined routes will be allocated to specific Contractors.
Bus Eireann proposes to award elements of defined routes to qualified operators for specific times and on specific days. Successful Operators will be required to operate these services at specific times and on specific days and in accordance with their tendered rates. Bus Eireann will define the age, size and specification of vehicle required for the services. Only Coaches up to 10 years of age are required. Coaches which fall outside this requirement will not be considered.
Requirement No. 2 – ad-hoc panel of qualified and competent operators will be established for the Greater Sligo Area to provide services to Bus Eireann on demand. Two (2) smaller panels will be established for services originating in the Ballina and Donegal areas. The provision of these services will be for the purpose of supplementing existing bus services, in particular, at times of increased demand for seasonal or other reasons. Bus Eireann will define the age, size and specification of vehicle required for the services. Only Coaches up to 10 years of age are required. Coaches which fall outside this requirement will not be considered.
Requirement No. 3 – Bus Eireann has a requirement to establish a panel of qualified and competent operators to provide ad-hoc services e.g. concerts, races, etc. to Bus Eireann as required. Tenderers will be required to quote for the service as they arise. Bus Eireann will define the age, size and specification of vehicle required for the Services. Coaches up to 10 years of age are required. Coaches which fall outside this requirement will not be considered.
