Mail Conveyance by Road (Mail Car Contractors)
An Post invites expressions of interest for the provision of conveying mail by road (Mail Car Contractors).
An Post is committed to quality of service and our performance is monitored and reported on by ComReg. Successful contractors will be required to guarantee continuity of service, timely operation and security of mail during transportation.
An Post is seeking to enter into a contract with suitably qualified contractors who can provide daily transportation of mail on the four network routes listed below.
Route 1. Between Letterkenny, Lifford, Donegal Town & Ballybofey (752 kms per week);
Route 2. Between Dundalk and Mallusk, Belfast (1 152 kms per week);
Route 3. Between Clifden and Galway (920 kms per week);
Route 4. Between Kilrush, Ennis, Cork Mails Centre and Limerick (2 519 kms per week).
All vehicles used to provide service to the routes above must be road worthy and have a current DOE certificate. Contractors must have access to a suitable replacement vehicle when required to ensure continuity of service and that An Post does not experience any service failures.
The four routes listed above consist of a number of collection and delivery points along the routes (see division into lots further on and additional documents).
It is intended that the contract will be for a period of 3 years with the option to extend the contract for a further 1 or 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance and annual review.
An Post reserves the right to source the entire requirement (all Lots) with a single prime contractor or to source each Lot with a different supplier.
There is a qualification questionnaire attached to this notice (available to download from
www.etenders.gov.ie) which must be competed in full in order to be considered for this tender.
An Post intends to bring forward to tender stage a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 applicants for each lot.
Once suppliers are selected for tender stage and the tender has been awarded, the successful supplier(s) will be required to provide Garda clearance in order to be eligible to perform this contract.
