Delivery and distribution of forest plants in Ireland 2012-2014

Coillte

Coillte Nurseries is a division of the Coillte Group which sells and distributes forest plants in the Irish market. Production is primarily based in Carlow/Wicklow.
Coillte Nurseries are now seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified transport companies and/or individuals for inclusion on a panel for the distribution of forest plants to our customers. Approximately 85 % of sales are based in Ireland requiring localised distribution of product throughout the 26 counties. Distribution requires a mixed fleet of rigid lorries (or smaller vehicles) with or without trailers. Overall demand will be dictated by orders received but will predominantly range from 20 to 25 lorry movements per week (approximate total of 600 loads) during a sales season lasting from November to June (peak period January – April). Lorries may be required to deliver to a combination of customers all within a general locus with an average of four to six drops per load.
In addition there is a significant level of short haul movement of plants between nurseries in the Carlow/Wicklow area. This will involve the movement of both graded and ungraded stock between the environs of Gorey, Co Wexford, Tinahely, Co Wicklow and Ardattin/Tullow, Co Carlow. This may include the ‘dropping’ of an articulated (curtain-sider) trailer to a location for later pick up/delivery to any of the above locations or alternatively the use of rigid lorries.
