Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified contractors for the Cavan Sewerage Scheme โ€“ Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade. It is required to expand the existing wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) from a capacity of 20 565 population equivalent (PE) to a capacity of 30 000 PE. The Contract will be โ€œPublic Works Contract for Civil Engineering Works โ€ and shall include operation and maintenance of the existing wastewater treatment plant during construction and shall include a one year extended process proving period where the Contractor shall be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the expanded plant.
The works may involve the execution of additional and repetition of similar works and services.

It is required to upgrade and expand the existing Cavan Wastewater Treatment Plant (WwTP) from a design BOD loading of 1 111 kg/day. to 1 800 kg/day. The wastewater treatment plant expansion is required to accommodate the predicted future increases in waste water flows up to a population equivalent of 30 000 from an expanding domestic, commercial and industrial population. The proposed WwTP expansion will provide secondary and tertiary treatment with nutrient removal. The contract involves the design, supply, construction, testing and commissioning of an expanded 30 000 p.e. Wastewater Treatment Plant in Keadue Lane, Cavan Town, Co.Cavan.Cavan Town is the principal town in County Cavan situated in the centre of the county. County Cavan is part of the Border Region which also includes counties Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Louth and Sligo. The National Development Plan's long term strategic aim for the border region is to resume its social and economic development through structural adjustment while protecting and improving the environment.The existing WwTP located in Keadue Lane, Cavan Town, receives domestic, commercial and industrial effluent and currently has a total treatment capacity of 20 565 p.e. (carbonaceous BOD removal only). 2) Suitably qualified and experienced personnel in Works and Operation and Maintenance Experience as further detailed in the Suitability Assessment Questionnaire. Applicant's must demonstrate that at least two members of the applicant's staff has a minimum of 8 years experience in the design and construction of wastewater treatment plants and has a degree qualification in engineering or an equivalent (Level 8) qualification. In addition at least two members of the applicant's staff has a minimum of 5 years experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants

4) Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of a minimum of ONE municipal wastewater treatment plant of = 20 000 PE
5) The minimum manpower requirement shall be 20 as an average over the last three years.
6) Declarations as provided with the Suitability Assessment Questionnaire and associated documents must be completed.
7) The resources, experience and competence to carry out the duties set out in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006 (SI No. 504 of 2006) relating to Contractor, Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP), Designer and Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) must be demonstrated by completion of the supplements and other documents included with the Suitability Assessment Questionnaire.
