National Roads Authority (NRA)

Tranche 2 service areas on the national roads network is a PPP Contract (the "Contract") and is intended to comprise the design, construction, operation, maintenance and financing of two service areas (M6 Athlone & M9 Kilcullen) on the national roads network. The Contract may also include the fit-out and operation of a further service area on the M11 (Gorey), once constructed.
The design and construction elements of the Contract are currently intended to comprise (in particular, but without limitation) the design and construction (and possible fit-out of an already constructed facility) of facilities for motorists and their passengers, which provide extensive parking, fuel station, toilet block, Garda enforcement area, retail and restaurant/ food facilities.
The operations element of the Contract is currently intended to comprise (in particular, but without limitation) the operation of the facilities outlined above and the maintenance of the infrastructure. It is intended that operators will have fuel and toilet facilities continually available for road users. Food facilities are intended to be available to road users over an extensive period each day, to be defined by the Authority.
All such elements of work set out above are approximate only and may be reduced or added to by the Authority following discussion with those Candidates selected to proceed to the second stage of the competition or otherwise at the Authority's absolute discretion. The Authority may also extend or reduce the operation (including maintenance) elements of the project.
