Bord Gáis Éireann intends to commence a competition to appoint a suitable manufacturer to supply and deliver carbon monoxide alarms and associated training.
Bord Gáis Networks intend to tender for and purchase up to 30 000 carbon monoxide alarms in 2011. Participation in the fitting of these alarms will be offered to all members of the Register of Gas Installers in Ireland (RGII). Training will be provided to participating RGIs by Bord Gáis Networks, in conjunction with the CO alarm supplier/manufacturer, during the months of September and October 2011.
This pilot scheme will initially be offered to the first 1 000 RGI respondents. Training and materials will be provided, by BGN, during September and October at a number of training centres around the Republic of Ireland to accommodate participants. It is currently anticipated that the duration of this contract to be entered into with the successful manufacturer will be a one off contract.
