SmartPly Europe is situated at Belview Port, near Waterford city and has produced Oriented Strand Board (OSB) since 1996 for a range of structural applications including flooring, wall sheathing, roofing, hoarding, furniture and packaging. OSB is a strong, durable wood panel which is increasingly used throughout Europe in the Offsite construction sector. It is manufactured by compressing precisely engineered strands of wood with gluing resins at high temperature to create a strong and versatile panel. It is an innovative, environmentally sustainable timber based solution for structural and non structural building applications. A significant volume of the factory output is exported, comprising over 40 different products. SmartPly are a leading supplier of premium OSB products in Europe.
CPP have plans to modernize the SmartPly OSB facility with an investment in new equipment for biomass heat energy, wood strand drying, screening, pressing and panel finishing.
CPP invites expressions of interest for the supply and installation of an OSB continuous press of nominal output 330 000 mยณ p.a. OSB with an integrated panel finishing line including cut to size and packaging operations, complete with ancillary works. The equipment must conform to best practice design principles and all relevant European legislation. It is anticipated that order placement will be in the timeframe of Q3 2011, with final project construction completion by Q1 2013.
