The Department of the Taoiseach’s guidelines on the use of taxis provides that taxis may be used for official business only. The Department's requirement is year-round 24/7. Uninterrupted service must be guaranteed at all times including during Christmas, public holidays, and/or major sporting or other events. Some journeys will involve trips to airports for staff to make connections for flights overseas. Reliability and timeliness of service is therefore of the essence.
