Extra High Voltage (110kV – 400kV) Infrastructure development in the South East Region of Ireland
The objective of this Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) process is to produce a short-list of suitably qualified companies who would be invited to tender for the provision of project management, engineering, environmental, planning, consultation and communications services as detailed below.
EirGrid is to undertake major capital investment in the South East region of Ireland as part of the Grid 25 strategy. The proposed scheme shall involve development of Extra High Voltage Electricity Transmission Infrastructure which extends from Cork to Dublin. The development arises out of the need to support the following.
Accommodation and support of renewable generation.
Future interconnection with UK/Europe.
Two new combined cycle gas turbines in Cork.
Further development of conventional generation in the South East.
Increased demand by 2025.
The final design for the scheme is at an advanced stage, with a number of options being considered. It is envisaged that the scheme will involved significant development extending the breadth of the region with infrastructure from 110kV to 400kV between Cork and Dublin. It is envisaged that the development will include new circuits at 400kV, 220kV & 110kV with upgrades/alterations to the existing 220/110kV system.
The required Services are split into Lots.
Lot 1 – Project Management, Engineering, Planning and Environmental Services.
Lot 2 - Consultation and Communication Services.
Lot 3 - Combined Lot 1 and Lot 2.
