DCU School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering invites tenders for the supply of the following equipment: Lot 1. โ A practical and convenient laboratory based High Energy Pulsed Nd:YAG laser system for Laser Shot Peening (LSP) of steel components. Laser specifications requested include laser pulse energy between 1.5 and 3.5 Joules, a pulse repetition frequency capability of 20Hz or above, and a pulse width below approximately 10 ns. Lot 2. โ A galvanometer that can position the focused laser beam within a 350 mm wide and 150 mm long 2D area. As an additional option, the provision of focusing in 3D also within a 150 mm depth of this area is sought. This optical arrangement should be capable of providing a focused spot size of 0.5 mm diameter from the above specified laser, though smaller spot sizes down to 0.1 mm diameter would also be acceptable. A three axis or dynamic focusing galvanometer system to achieve focusing would be required in the case of 3D focusing. These specifications have been defined to allow power densities above 3 GW/cm2 from the system.
