The contract will be for a comprehensive Ground Investigation associated with the proposed alignment of Dublins Metro North project, extending over a distance of approximately 17 km from the city centre. Contract M7086 involves fieldwork and laboratory testing. percussion boring, rotary core drilling, trial pitting excavation, slit trenching, compaction trials, geophysical ground penetrating radar, seismic refraction surveying, dynamic probing testing, pumping tests and groundwater monitoring installations and reporting. Sampling and testing of soil, rock and groundwater, including in-situ and laboratory materials testing, will be required. The scope of the work is expected to include geo-environmental investigation, primarily associated with identifying ground and groundwater contamination. The investigation may be divided into two parts with a southern part addressing the conditions in the areas of the city where the alignment runs underground and a northern part in the areas of the city where the alignment is, in the main, in retained cut or at-grade or elevated.
