River Dargle flood defence works. The project involves the design and construction of flood defences and river regrading works along the lower reaches of the River Dargle from the N11 Bridge to the railway bridge at Bray Harbour. The stretch of river is approx 3 km in length. The flood defences are required to provide protection against a 1 in 100 year fluvial flood and 1 in 200 year tidal flood which has been predetermined and the contractor will be required to design the defences to a specified flood level. The contractor is also required to design and construct a large bore culvert at Bray Bridge, the only vehicular bridge in Bray Town, to act as a fourth arch to the bridge. Bray Bridge must remain open for the duration of this work. The River Dargle is an ecologically and archaeological sensitive environment. The contractor will be responsible for retaining the services of a suitably qualified and licensed archaeologist and ecologist to oversee the design and construction of the works and to comply with any restrictions or obligations imposed by the planning process. The proposed works involve significant construction works in the centre of Bray Town in close proximity to residential and commercial premises. There will be significant traffic and noise management issues.
