The Development Education Unit within the Development Cooperation Directorate of the Department of Foreign Affairs wishes to develop a national scheme to support linking and immersion projects between schools in Ireland and in developing countries. The Department is now seeking expressions of interest to administer and manage the operation of this scheme. It is envisaged that support to schools undertaking either linking or immersion projects would include: advice, information, training and the provision of small grants to enhance the educational potential and to support certain other associated costs of these initiatives. Special additional support would be available for schools in designated disadvantaged areas in Ireland. Schools in Northern Ireland may participate in the scheme on a cross-border basis with partner schools in the Republic of Ireland.
