Iarnrod Eireann–Irish Rail

Title attributed to the contract by the contracting entity: Development & supply of a hybrid replacement product for existing CAWS & ATP system. Iarnród Éireann intends to source a replacement product for the existing vehicle borne component of their CAWS (Continuous Automatic Warning System) and ATP ( Automatic Train Protection) systems. The current equipments are nearing the end of their life expectancy and it is required to develop a hybrid replacement solution to maintain the current fleet, both diesel and electrical, and satisfying the requirements for new rolling stock, both diesel and electrical, into the future. It is required that a combined hybrid system would be developed compatible with the existing wayside, on-board systems of CAWS and ATP. While also providing some enhanced features and a migration path to ETCS. The contract structure is as follows: — Phase 1 - Indentifying the requirements and developing a solution through to prototype, testing and safety validation/ approval stages, — Phase 2 - A subsequent framework agreement covering the manufacture and supply of the equipment, — Phase 3 - Individual drawdown supply contracts to be entered into over the 10 year life of the Framework, with an obligation to maintain and supply spare parts for 10 years after the purchase of the system.
