Askeaton Leisure Centre Biomass Heat Supply Tender. Askeaton Pool and Leisure Ltd (APL) is a special purpose company, established in 2005 by Limerick County Council and Askeaton Swimming Club, to oversee the development of, and to operate, the Askeaton Leisure Centre (ALC). ALC incorporates a 25 m, 5no lane swimming pool, kiddies learner pool, jacuzzi and steam room, gymnasium, changing village, reception area, offices, meeting rooms, storage areas and plant room. ALC currently operates a 300 KW diesel burning boiler to provide heat at the Centre. In accordance with national policy documents, energy consumption at public buildings must be reduced by 33 % by 2020. APL wishes to enter into a heat contract from low carbon renewable resources. Askeaton Pool and Leisure Ltd wishes to enter into an ESCo arrangement with suitably qualified suppliers for the supply of biomass generated heat at the Centre. Suppliers will be required to construct a remote energy centre (in the yard to the rear of the Centre) in a self-contained plant room and fuel store to provide the heat energy demand for the Leisure Centre.
