Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: Athlone Main Drainage Stage 3 - Contract 1A Soil Investigations. Under the Athlone Main Drainage – Stage 3 Scheme, Westmeath Co. Co. intends upgrading the existing sewer network, provision of sewers to new development areas and the extension of the existing waste water treatment plant from 30,000 to 60,000 P.e. for the town of Athlone. The sewer works will include new trunk sewers, new storm sewers and foul sewers for future development areas, upgrading hydraulically and structurally deficient sewers, rehabilitation of existing sewers, elimination of storm overflows, provision of storm storage, upgrading/new sewage pumping stations and flood alleviation works. The construction stage will be implemented and constructed under four separate contracts. The object of this soils investigation contract is to obtain information regarding existing ground conditions to enable the design and construction of the scheme.
