Irish Greyhound Board

Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: Provision of Banking Facility to Irish Greyhound Board. Bord na gCon, the Irish Greyhound Board, was established by the Greyhound Industry Act 1958. The Board is a commercial semi-state body charged with responsibility for the control, regulation and development of the Irish greyhound industry. The Board’s powers include the licensing of tracks, the issuing of permits to officials, bookmakers, trainers and the implementation of the rules of racing. The Board has a number of major capital development projects planned as part of a programme initiated in 1996, which to date has resulted in approximately Euro90m being spent on both new stadia and the re-development of existing stadia. The Board is establishing a framework agreement for the provision of funding in order to finance its on-going capital development programme. The initial contract under the framework agreement will be for a revolving loan of 12 500 000 Euro over a period of 7 years, to be converted into a term loan of 5 -7 years thereafter with mutually agreed repayments. The Board may repay the revolving loan early without penalty, subject to notice. Further funding may be sought under subsequent contracts under the framework agreement, up to a maximum of 22 500 000 Euro.
