Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: Magilligan Limavady - Greencastle Ferry. The Councils recognise the key importance of access in relation to the NW Region. One of the ways of promoting access within the region has been the development of core infrastructure for the provision of a ferry service. The Councils have jointly worked to establish a roll on roll off ferry service between Magilligan, Limavady and Greencastle, Co Donegal. The availability of this service over the past 7 years has contributed to the tourism and economic development of the region. Continuation of this service is a key element of the “peninsula and island hopping” concept creating a linked passage from the offshore island of Oileán Thoraigh to the West Coast of Scotland taking in Malin Head and the Causeway Coast.
